Shaded and Sloped Garden
Wooded and private, steep and shady, the primary garden space for this home steps down from the street above to the front door. Our design focuses on creating a harmonious blend of textures and colors that offer this family a tranquil view from the home with something new to see closeup as they traverse their hillside.
The addition of two steel planters set into the hillside protects the roots of this property’s majestic western red cedars while allowing vibrant understory plantings to provide year-round interest. A collection of Japanese maples selected for their spring foliage and fall color pair well with a mix of native plants including red flowering currant, salal, deer fern and Solomon’s plume.
